Golfview Drive, Urbana, Illinois

I was all set to give you champagne to ring in the new year- instead I give you a house worth celebrating in Champaign-Urbana.

See the cloud forming a heart over the house above? It agrees with me that this house is a keeper.

Can you bring that package in with you while we look at the house? Maybe there's champagne glasses in it.

The house has lots of windows to enjoy the view of the 2nd tee at the Urbana Country Club golf course.

The dining room is all ready for celebrations (note the bar cart). If it were mine, I'd give it a slightly cozier, country spin:

I wouldn't change a thing in the kitchen, though. I'd just light the fire and watch Magnolia Table or something.

Then I would curl up with one of Jo's books on the sunporch:

The house was built in 2002, and has 4 bedrooms (+ one in the basement) and 5 bathrooms in 3,380 square feet.

After getting more decorating inspiration from Jo, I'd get a burst of energy and want to spruce up this guest room for you:

Maybe I got some new Frette duvet covers for Christmas and want to show them off with one here...

...and another one in the other guest suite downstairs: so:

I especially want the basement guest room to be a pretty place to retreat, because I'm not exactly sure what form of recreation goes on in the game room:

This one makes more sense, especially for New Year's resolution-makers...

...or those who just like to sit back and watch other people exercise:

Urbana shares the University of Illinois campus with its sister city Champaign. Both places were named after cities in Ohio. Apparently locals call the area Chambana unless there's something about the other city that they don't like. There seems to be a lot to like there, however, with a steady stream of arts and food festivals, including the Sweetcorn Festival and Ebertfest. (Roger Ebert was an Urbana native).

This house makes a pretty good home base for celebration and decoration. And a lively game of alligatorpoolgolf. The listing is here.
