If It Were Mini: All Creatures Great and Small Kitchen

The TV series All Creatures Great and Small is due to return to PBS for Season 6 on January 11, 2026 -- it premiered last month for those lucky ducks in the UK. Now I have a deadline to finish the dollhouse, because Season 6 brings some changes to the sets. (Yes, I've been naughty and found some spoilers.  I can't wait to see the new designs!)

Here's my finished kitchen:

As a reminder, back when I first decorated the dollhouse in the 1990's, the kitchen looked like this:

Actually, it looked like the room below, because I've turned the living room into the new kitchen:

I wanted to use the fireplace to hold the Aga cooker, similar to how it appears on the show.

That gave me the opportunity to turn the built-in shelves next to the fireplace into a dish cupboard. I covered it in wood veneer and put in spindles for the plates. The hinges on the bottom are tiny beads that wanted to roll around and get lost instead of staying on impossibly tiny pieces of wire. (My weird priorities are why these rooms take so long to put together.)

Here's a screen grab from the show for reference:

With space constraints, I had to set up my laundry area a little differently:

I made the laundry tub and mangle from a souvenir pencil sharpener, jewelry pieces, and little wooden rollers:

Here's a work-in-progress view of the room. Which fabric works better for the sink skirt?

Here are a few more inspirational/informational screen captures:

And back to my version, where I'm realizing I really do need to add a jade green coffee pot.

At least I remembered to include Jess the golden retriever.

January 11th will be here soon. I need to keep plugging away. I'll leave you with an "if it were mine" inspiration photo for the upstairs hallway, where I'm heading next....
