Christmas Shop, Spring Street, Newport, Rhode Island

From the splendor of its Gilded Age mansions to "mystery" trees popping up on the beaches, Newport, Rhode Island embraces the Christmas season like few other places.

It's perfect timing for this cute retail space to become available. It's all set to become a Christmas store.

Downtown in the bustling historic district, it's at the corner of Spring and Church Streets, below:

The building is already sporting a traditional red and green color scheme:

Nowadays it's Fraser fir green -- it used to be more of a light spruce:

It's housed pottery, design and art galleries over the years...

It's 435 square feet, with two rooms for merchandise display and one for storage:

It's little, but bright and sunny and welcoming.

If it were mine, I would deck it out for Christmas like this:

I liked the store below for inspiration, but it would have been harder to move into the space than the freestanding elements I photoshopped.

I had to photoshop, because when I asked AI to do it, it eventually gave me this:

It's pretty good, especially if you're in the market for red and green throw blankets, but it's not quite what I envisioned. Still, it's a lot better than its first attempt:

At least this store is open to all sorts of possibilities. Just like Newport, it's a perfect showcase to celebrate all things Christmas.

Speaking of creating things -- and Kristin, if you're reading this, avert your eyes --

I made this tart out of salt dough to go with the gift of a cake stand.

It was fun to make something larger than one inch for a change! I got the idea from YouTuber Pine and Prospect Home -- her tarts turned out so beautifully!

The listing is here. Pine and Prospect Home's video is here.
