If It Were Mini: All Creatures Great and Small Attic Bedroom and Nursery
The last few projects were the attic bedrooms and hallways. We'll tour the hallways as we go upstairs. On the show the front hall also serves as a waiting room for the veterinarians' patients. Hence the puppy in his little carrier on the floor.
There's also a phone ("Darrowby 2297") that's tucked in a niche at the bottom of the stairs. I made my niche out of half an aspirin bottle. Here's how it looks on the show:
I couldn't remember what the artwork was on the stairs. Mr. If It Were Mine was sure they included a stag painting somewhere, due to the house's location and time period. I agreed, but hoped it was something prettier than a stag painting. Below pretty much conveys my expression when I realized I definitely had to include one.
You can see mine to the right of the clock, below:
At least I enjoyed working on the floors and wainscoting, with the help of my big paperweight:
You see the bas-relief carving at the end of the right wall?
It's made from a Wendy's kids' meal "spooky spoon."
Here's a better view of it:
Moving upstairs...they only show the briefest glimpses of this hallway on the show, but here James is heading toward the door that leads to his and Helen's attic bedroom:
They also showed a stained glass window there once, but I couldn't find a picture of it. I included one and also took some creative license and made built-in cabinets in my hall.
I added a settee across from the door to the bedroom:
This is a work-in-progress shot, but I enjoyed making the sheep picture for the settee:
So, here are some photos I used for inspiration:

Here are my results:
The stairway that leads up into the room is on the right.
Baby Jimmy's nursery is a step up, and has a room divider/roof support similar to the one I made on the right:
I imagined the rest of the details, but included the show's signature warm yellow, blue, red and green colors:
I made the cabinets and shirred the fabric insert panels.
The micro-mini furniture/Jimmy's toys were a Christmas gift from my sister last year. And speaking of Christmas...
I'll have the full tour and Christmas video soon! The bedroom video will be up this Sunday; I'll add the link when it's ready.
